International Mobility

International Relations Office

The International Relations Office of the University of Catania manages the main European and non-European mobility programmes for students, recent graduates, academic staff, and administrative staff. These programmes support study, traineeships, teaching, and training activities at universities, companies, and other international institutions.

In particular, within the framework of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP), the Office coordinates the University’s participation in the Erasmus+ Programme. Through Erasmus+ study mobility, students can spend a period abroad at partner universities for study purposes or to prepare their final dissertation.

The Office also manages and coordinates the main traineeship and professional training programmes, allowing students and recent graduates to carry out internships at companies and organisations abroad.

In addition, it welcomes incoming international students, providing information and support services. (http://web.dmi.unict.it/it/content/international)

Administrative Support for Degree Programmes

Administrative procedures related to the Degree Programme are managed by the International Teaching Unit, which works in collaboration with the International Relations Office (IRO). Together, they handle incoming and outgoing student mobility.

In particular, they:

  • collaborate with the IRO in the selection process and allocation of mobility grants;
  • provide administrative support to incoming and outgoing students;
  • work with the Programme Director and the Department’s Internationalisation Delegate to approve study plans and recognise ECTS credits earned abroad;
  • manage communication and documentation with partner universities.

Internationalisation of the Degree Programme

To promote internationalisation, some third-year courses are delivered in English.

Within certain courses, visiting international or Italian experts may be invited to deliver a series of seminars in English. These seminars are integrated into the course and concluded with a final assessment. The course lecturer supervises the seminars, which are jointly structured between the course lecturer and the visiting professor (up to 3 ECTS credits).

Examinations may therefore be conducted partly in Italian and partly in English.

These seminar activities are announced in advance on the Department website and in the official course documentation (SUA-CdS), and full details are provided in the course syllabus.
