International Mobility
The International Relations Office of the University of Catania manages the main European and non-European mobility programs for students, recent graduates, teachers and staff for study, internship, teaching and training purposes at universities, companies and other international structures .
In particular, within the LLP (Lifelong Learning Programme) community programme, it takes care of the participation of the University of Catania in the Erasmus Program which allows, through the Erasmus Study action, students to spend a period at universities participating in the program for purposes of study or to develop their own degree thesis. It also takes care of and coordinates the main programs that allow students, undergraduates and new graduates to carry out an internship and professional training period in companies and organizations abroad. Lastly, it welcomes incoming foreign students by providing them with information support and assistance (http://web.dmi.unict.it/it/content/international).
The administrative management of the procedures relating to the degree course is taken care of by the respective international teaching unit which, in collaboration with the Office for International Relations (URI), manages the flow of incoming and outgoing students, namely:
- Collaborate with the URI during the selection and assignment procedures of the respective mobility grants;
- Provides operational support to incoming and outgoing students in carrying out administrative procedures;
- In agreement with the President of the Course and the Delegate for internationalization of the Department concerned, he follows the process of approving the study plans and the validation of the respective credits of the subjects that the students take at the foreign host universities;
- It takes care of relations with foreign universities in the administrative management of the presented documentation.
Internationalization inside the Course
To encourage internationalisation, some third-year courses are taught in English.
As part of a course, expert foreign visitors and Italian teachers can be invited to hold cycles of seminars in English as part of degree courses to be concluded with a final exam. The iteaching professor will have to attend the seminars and the teaching program will consist of a part carried out by the professor and a part (max 3 credits) carried out by the guest professor. The exams will therefore be held partly in Italian and partly in English.
The presence of these cycles of seminars will be adequately publicized on the DMI website and in the SUA and all the details on the teaching syllabus must be provided.
