Seminario del prof. Dennis Shasha - 13 febbraio 2025

Giovedì 13 febbraio 2025 alle ore 12.00 presso l'aula 2 del Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica, il prof. Dennis Shasha della New York University, visiting presso la nostra università per questa settimana, terrà un seminario intitolato: AI-aided  Advisors: design and validation.

Abstract:
We have developed a site called dietnerd.org which answers questions about diet and health. The workflow starts with a query, then proceeds through parsing, pointing at a database, relevance analysis, safety analysis, and summarization. The challenge is to ensure that the result is clear and accurate. This talk presents our design choices (to privilege safety and to avoid hallucinations) and our validation tests (blinded studies with human experts as well as comparison with systematic reviews). I will discuss various generalizations of this approach to AI-based experts on the wireless literature and standards and to financial investment.

Bio:
Il prof. Dennis Shasha è un informatico e professore di Computer Science presso la New York University. Specializzato in database, algoritmi e bioinformatica, ha contribuito allo sviluppo di tecniche avanzate per la gestione dei dati. Ha scritto numerosi libri e articoli scientifici, oltre a opere divulgative che esplorano  la matematica e l'intelligenza artificiale. Collabora con aziende e istituzioni per risolvere problemi complessi di analisi dei dati.  Il prof. Shasha ha ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti per il suo contributo alla ricerca informatica.
