Informazioni da Leiden (per chi l'avesse messa tra le sedi preferite per l'Erasmus)
Leiden University has decided that all inbound exchanges and all outbound exchanges (to code green/yellow destinations) can go ahead in the autumn semester of the 2021/22 academic year (August 2021 – January 2022).
After a year in which we had to cancel all our exchange programmes, we are very happy to be able to resume our activities. However, the situation remains precarious, and we would therefore like to draw your attention to some important considerations. We will be informing all inbound and outbound students of the situation in a similar email today.
Inbound students to Leiden University
- Inbound students are welcome as long as the Dutch government allows for inbound travel and the student follows the rules of their host and home countries. If the situation changes, we will have to follow the rules of the Dutch government, which could result in cancelling the semester before departure.
- Travel will always be at the student’s own risk (including any financial expenses or possible repatriation).
- We advise students to have a plan B, in case the situationchanges before departure.
- The Faculty of Science does not offer an online exchange programme
- Leiden University will try to provide on-campus education. However, the situation may dictate that some or all classes are partially online upon the student’s arrival, or they may change during the semester from on campus to online. Students who are already in the Netherlands will always be able to finish their courses, be it on campus or online. If students return home before the end of the semester, we cannot guarantee special arrangements to allow them to take online exams from home.
- Students should consult the Dutch government’s checklist for travel to the Netherlands. This provides the latest updates on travel bans, test results, health declaration and quarantine obligations.
- Students must take out travel insurance that covers Covid-19 related costs (like repatriation and hospitalisation).
If you or your students have any questions about inbound applications for the autumn semester, please contact us at incoming@science.leidenuniv.nl
Outbound students from Leiden University
- Leiden University students may only travel abroad to destinations with a green or yellow travel advisory from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most destinations abroad are currently still orange or red. We hope this will change in the coming months, but if the advisories do not change to green or yellow before the start of the semester, our students will not be allowed to start their exchange programme. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
- We expect our students to check the local rules and regulations concerning quarantine, vaccinations, insurance and any other Covid-19 related obligations before departure and during their stay at your university.
If you have any questions, please check our FAQs, which will be updated on the website this week. If you still have any questions, please let us know.
We will also be posting a general announcement about exchanges in autumn 2021 here soon. For more information about the Covid-19 in the Netherlands, please check the information from our government or the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
We look forward to resuming our exchange in autumn 2021 and to further strengthening our partnership!
Kind regards,
