Abstract: Advances in commodity light‑dome rigs and machine‑learning‑based rendering are closing the gap between laboratory‑grade facial measurement and affordable, desktop‑scale capture. This talk traces that evolution, showing how a portable array of everyday screens can now record a full “digital double” in minutes, capturing high‑resolution 3‑D geometry, photometric normals, and the subtle spectral signatures of living skin, including blood‑flow patterns and faint fluorescence. I will demonstrate how these rich models can be acquired, relit, animated, and even time‑shifted to depict the same person convincingly at different ages. These capabilities already power real‑time pipelines and prime‑time television productions.
