Seminario - Interval Rings

il prossimo seminario di Algebra si terrà il 6 Luglio alle ore 16 nell'Aula 127 del DMI. Lo speaker è il Prof. Alan Loper (Ohio State University).

Titolo: Interval Rings

Abstract: This is joint work with Bill Heinzer - Bruce Olberding - Matt Toeniskoetter.
We are working on a large, long-term project to classify the integrally closed overrings of a two-dimensional regular local ring.  The first step is to classify the local rings. We progress from simplest to most complex.
Simplest:  Valuation rings - especially DVRs - not much to say.
Next:  KCRs:  (our name)  Pullbacks of DVRs.
Next:  Interval rings: Intersection of a nice class of KCRs based on a closed interval contained in the positive real numbers.
Most complicated:  (No label yet).  An intersection of generalized interval rings based on a connected collection of intervals.
We will only touch lightly on this last step.
