Academic Board
Coordinator: Prof. Vittorio Romano
The Academic Board of the PhD programme in Mathematics and Computational Sciences consists of both faculty members from the University of Catania and academics from partner universities, namely Messina and Palermo. The Board includes members covering all three curricula of the PhD programme: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Computational Sciences.
The Academic Board:
- is responsible for the organisation and coordination of the PhD programme. This includes defining the educational objectives, research areas, and the teaching plan, which may comprise courses, seminars, and other training activities;
- reviews PhD applications and selects suitable candidates, typically through public calls and selection procedures such as the evaluation of research proposals and interviews;
- supervises and assesses the progress of doctoral students through periodic reports or annual evaluations, ensuring that research work meets the required standards and timelines.
The Academic Board may be renewed at the start of each new PhD cycle. At the link below, it is possible to view the members of the Board for the 42nd cycle. For previous cycles, please refer to the University of Messina website, which served as the administrative headquarters in the past four cycles.
