Fabrizio MESSINA
Fabrizio Messina, born in 1979, is associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Catania since 2020.
In August 2018 Fabrizio Messina obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the profession of Associate Professor for Inf/01 and Ing-Inf/05.
Beginning with the Academic Year 2017/2018, he is in charge of the programming course 1 for the DMI degree course in Computer Science.
He collaborates with several research groups, including the research group of the Robotics Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science led by Prof. Santoro. His current research is in the field of swarm intelligence, as well as trust and reputation models applied to large-scale social and computational systems.

2009 - 2017 - Postdoc, Department of Mathematics and Informatics. In the same period he has been Research Fellow in various European Universities.
2006 - 2009 – Ph.D. student at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, University of Catania.
Main activities.
From 2017 he is lecturer for the course of "Programmazione 1" (basic programming), first year of the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, University of Catania.
In the previous years ha has been lecturer of several laboratory courses of Distributed Systems and Web Programming.
From 2014 to 2017 he has supervised the Ph.D. student Massimiliano De Benedetti, and since 2017 he has been supervising the Ph.D. student Fabio Leonardi.
He has been contributing as Program Committee for several International conferences.
From January 2017 he is Managing Editor of the International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing. Moreover, he is editorial board member of
several different International Journals. He is currently serving as guest editor for several importanmt journal as IEEE Access e Future Generation Computer Systems.
He serves as reviewer for several International journals, as Transactions on Cybernetics, Information Sciences, Journal of Network and Computer Applications.
In 2016 he has co-organized the 18th edition of the European Agent Systems Summer School (EASS), held in Catania.
