Mario DI RAIMONDO

Assistant Professor of Informatics [INF/01]

Researcher in Computer Science at the University of Catania since 2007 as Assistant Professor.

After graduating in Computer Science in 2002, he obtained the PhD title in Computer Science at the University of Catania in 2006 with a doctoral thesis on topics related to Cryptography developed under the supervision of Dr. Rosario Gennaro (at that at IBM Research – US, now full professor at CUNY - US) and Prof. Domenico Cantone (University of Catania).

For research collaborations, he spent periods abroad at private research facilities (IBM T.J. Watson Research Center – US) and at other universities (Columbia University – US).

He currently teaches in the Bachelor's and Master's Degree courses in Computer Science at the University of Catania.

  • Lecturer of reference for the Crypto Engineering course (48 hours) of the Master's Degree in Computer Science, from 2016 to today;
  • Co-lecturer for the Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies course (24 out of 48 hours) of the Master's Degree in Computer Science, from 2020 to today;
  • Other lectures (Computer Networks, Operating Systems and Laboratory, Security) for the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Computer Science at the IPPARI Research Center of the University of Catania, from 2005 to 2010.

The research activity is focused on Cryptography and its application in the field of Information Systems Security.

Current research interests focus on topics such as:

  • verifiable secure computing;
  • cloud computing;
  • secure multi-party computation.

Member of the Program Committee in some international conferences and reviewer for various international conferences and scientific journals in the sector.

  • Member of the Giunta di Dipartimento, since March 2020 to today;

  • Member of the Commissione sulla Terza Missione (Scuola e Territorio), since 2016 to 2019;
  • Member of the Commissione per l'Orientamento, since 2013 to 2016.
