Giovanni EMMANUELE

Full Professor of Mathematical analysis [MAT/05]

Full professor of Mathematical Analysis inside the Mathematics and Computer Science Department of Catania University since 1988, after having been research worker since 1983 to 1988.

He teaches a course of Mathematical Analysis 2 inside the Graduate Course of Mathematics at Catania University.

His research activity is devoted to the study of Geometry of Banach Spaces and Vector Measures Theory

After becoming research worker at Catania University in 1983, since 1988 is full professor of Mathematical Analysis inside the same University. At the beginning of his academic carrier, he was an active researcher in the field of Control Theory and then in the field of Differential/Integral Equations in Banach spaces. Since more than 30 years he has devoted his research interest to Geometry of Banach Spaces and Vector Measure Theory, mainly investigating the isomorphic classification of Banach Spaces and operators from a Banach space to another one. He has been visiting professor in several many Math Departments abroad, mainly Spain and U.S.A. His teaching activity is relative to several many courses named Istituzioni di Matematica and Mathematical Analysis (1 e 2) in a lot of degree courses, among them Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Earth Science, Computer Science Engineering, Electric Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Functional Analysis inside the Ph.D. Course in Mathematics or, more recently, inside Scuola Superiore dell'Università di Catania. He has also teached SISSIS courses during many years.

Study of isomorphic properties of Banach spaces and their connections to isomorphic properties of operators betwwen two Banach spaces and to compactness properties, in suitable topologies, of families of subsets of the Banach spaces under investigation. Study of connections between isomorphic properties of operators from a Banach space to another one and properties of suitable vector measures. Application of the obtained results to the investigation of differential/integral equations in Banach spaces.
